For anybody who feels lost and confused:

If you struggle at any point, you can open up the options menu with the escape key and return to the title screen.

This game is a point-and-click, you must drag items to the open button in the bottom right, then place them in your inventory. You can close the menu with the button in the top right.

If it seems like the item fails to enter your inventory, make sure you are placing the item in open grid spaces, you can also rotate items within the bag with q and r.
